Remote Area Medical’s founder Stan Brock piloted his DC -3 into Wise, Virginia to lead a three day free medical clinic supported by hundreds of volunteer doctors, dentist, nurses, students, and others in the health profession. Nearly, 3,000 people showed up for medical needs. Volunteer dentist Wallace Huff, of Blacksburg, Va said, "I just look at these people and I hurt, because there such good people and hard working people...and I just want to do all I can do and I want to do more." RAM holds clinics throughout the United States as well as other countries such as Guyana and Hati.

Rebecca Kamen’s “Divining Nature: An Elemental Garden” brought together art and science at the Greater Reston Arts Center, inspiring young and old alike to explore the periodic table and its elements.Tina Devine teaches and performs during a workshop related to the sculptural installation. Composer Susan Alexjander provided music for Kamen’s installation.
